The Redwood Audio Model BG1 is a custom bass guitar made to order for a good friend of the shop, Bob Groncki.  Bob has put in many years shaping the rhythms we groove to and we are pleased he has looked to us to help facilitate that journey.  

 

The BG1, like its inspirations, is an exercise in simplicity of form and function.  Back to the basics, but with a natural flare thanks to a lovely piece of book-matched spalted maple.  It utilizes a single split-coil humbucking pickup designed to replicate the 1962 vintage sounds of Fender's Precision bass and modest, but powerful volume/tone controls.  

 

The BG1 features a tightly fitted, set-in neck joint for improved sustain and a wide U-shaped neck, complementing the 9.5" radiused finger board for comfort in larger hands.  The angled-back (scarf joint) headstock holds the four Gotoh compact bass tuners in a 2x2 layout. 

The result is a sincere nod to a classic American-designed bass while conjuring a natural beauty and, best of all, a warm and enveloping sound we hope fills many rooms to come.
